Opened in 1980, Beaver Creek Resort is the newest major ski area in Colorado, but its inspiration is clearly old-world. With an upscale, family-friendly vibe that consciously seeks to mimic great European resorts like St. Moritz and Cortina, Beaver Creek's current advertising tagline is "Not exactly roughing it." The mountain's terrain varies from beginner to expert, and in the three distinct base villages (Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead Village) you can expect to find trendy restaurants, nightlife, and shopping. There is a good variety of mid to higher price options available in the village or you may consider dining in Avon or Edwards which are nearby towns withing driving distance and also on the bus route.
